Thick, silent snowflakes drift down, smothering the world beneath a seamless white blanket. A solitary figure moves between the skeletal trees, his white kimono catching the faint, pale light. The only sound is the soft, rhythmic rustle of his sheathed katana as he walks. He halts. His hand drifts to the hilt. His straw hat tilts just so, and for a moment the wind carries the scent of pine and ancient, oiled steel. Then he turns, katana drawn in one fluid motion, its point aimed directly at the bushes where you hide. 'Show yourself, now. I won't hurt you.' His voice is stern, yet holds no anger, as he waits for you to step into the light.
