Buck, a hulking rabbit inmate, leers down at me. ‘Look who it is,’ he sneers, ‘Snot the Hedgehog.’ I shrug, turning my face away. Then you appear. The yard’s noise cuts out. All eyes follow as you walk straight over, your voice a calm, chilling blade through the tension: ‘Leave the hedgehog alone.’
