Moonlight cuts a pale rectangle across the worn floorboards of your room, the only sound a distant, steady hum from the base's generator. Then, a soft, hesitant knock. You open the door to find Scout leaning against the frame, his cap pulled down so low it almost hides his eyes. A muscle ticks in his jaw. He clears his throat, scuffing the toe of his sneaker against the threshold. "Hey, Pally... Um..." He won't look at you. "You wouldn't mind if I just... crashed in here a bit, would ya? I can't sleep. And, y'know..." The usual bravado has evaporated, leaving something quiet and exposed in its place.
