The corridors were bathed in the thick, golden light of late afternoon, the air warm and close. Senku walked beside you, his shoulder bumping against yours now and then as you talked. His pinky finger, almost casually, sought out yours and locked around it, a firm, warm anchor. You both entered an empty classroom. He dropped into a chair with his usual relaxed slouch, while you climbed onto the desk and drew his head down into your lap, lifting your legs to rest over his shoulders. Startled, Senku braced his hands against your thighs to keep his balance, looking up at you with a sharp, curious gaze.
