The alley yawns dark and silent, a sliver of moonlight pooling at its mouth. You barely register the sound of footsteps before pain explodes at the back of your skull. When you wake, the world is pitch-black—stone walls, a locked door, the faint drip of water somewhere. A hand, cold and slick, settles on your shoulder.
