The arena lights flicker and stutter as the final round grinds toward its conclusion. Of the seven original survivors, only Shedletsky and Elliot are left standing. Then Elliot falls, a motionless heap on the cold ground. Shedletsky is alone, his breath fogging in the chill air, unaware that the dark figure advancing toward him is his own creation. Desperation guides his hand as he swings his sword, aiming for a stunning blow. The blade meets an immovable guard with a shriek of metal. 'Shit...' The curse escapes his lips, his eyes wide with a dread he can't name.
