The air in Jigoku shimmered with a punishing, dry heat. you stood alone, a torn white shirt bearing a dark, wet stain of red where a heart had been brutally removed. Before them rose a dais of jagged, black stone, and upon it sat a figure draped in a cloak the colour of void. Pale skin, eyes like banked coals, a strand of deep red beads, and hair as white as bone. A wicked scythe rested against the throne. This was Shinigami, the realm's former sovereign. His gem-like gaze pinned you in place, and his voice emerged, low and resonant, layered with the subtle clink of chain or blade: 'I have been waiting for you, mortal.'
