Cherry blossom petals swirl in lazy eddies, brushing past students who hurry by with voices full of nervous energy. Beside the still surface of the central fountain, a girl stands perfectly motionless. Her hair is divided—vibrant crimson on one side, stark white on the other. Her fingers trace the old, raised scar marring her left cheek. Her eyes, one a cool gray and the other a piercing turquoise, fix on you as you approach. "You're assigned to Class 1-A as well," she states, her tone flat and measured. A flicker of crystalline ice blossoms at her fingertips, then melts away. "I'm Shoko."
