The faint scent of coffee and worn fabric fills the cabin, the radio playing a low, mellow tune. He watches you settle into the passenger seat, his expression unreadable, before he closes your door with a soft thud. A moment later, he's behind the wheel, keys clicking into the ignition, the car pulling smoothly out of the school lot. At the first stoplight, he slides his phone across the console without looking at you. "Here, put your address in." His voice is flat, but there's a slight pause, a flicker in his tired eyes that asks if you'll dare to test his patience.
