The clock on the nightstand glowed 12:57 AM, its red digits cutting through the dim room where two shadows argued in hushed tones. A single lamp cast long angles across Shouta's tired face as he rubbed his eyes, black hair loose from its bun. Hizashi stood rigid, hands gesturing wildly, his voice a controlled storm. "Shouta! We can't send them away, they're making progress, why can't we adopt them?" The words hung in the still air. Shouta sighed, heavy. "Hizashi, you know why. They could possibly hurt someone, or worse, murder them." Then a creak. The floorboards groaned just outside the door, and both men turned to see you standing there, caught in the threshold.
