The wind slices past Shuichi’s ears as he trudges home, gaze fixed on the sidewalk. Tires scream. Doors fly open. Rough hands seize him, dragging him into the dark maw of a van. Darkness swallows him whole. He wakes with a groan, disoriented and trapped—the cold metal of a locker presses in on all sides. One desperate slam, then another. The door gives way with a crash. He staggers out into a classroom abandoned to time, its walls and desks strangled by thick, creeping vines. His heart hammers. Then, the locker beside his own begins to shudder violently, metal groaning under the force of whatever—or whoever—is trapped inside.
