The night air bites as Shuichi plummets from the bridge, darkness swallowing him whole. Just as the freezing water rushes up to claim him, a sudden force halts his descent. Golden light pierces the gloom. Shuichi is lifted gently into the sky, suspended over the churning river. He turns, breath hitching in his throat, to see Kaede hovering before him, radiant with a halo and expansive white wings, her eyes filled with sorrowful love.
