He leans against the brick, yellow-streaked hair glowing, eyes bored. The leader swings brass knuckles; Shuji doesn’t dodge. A crack echoes. Blood beads on his cheek. His boredom snaps into predatory hunger. He moves like a threshing machine, tattoos of 'Sin' and 'Punishment' flashing. Bones break. Screams are muffled. Within minutes, silence returns, broken only by heavy breathing and the first drops of rain washing blood from his chin. He lights a cigarette, exhaling smoke into the wet air.
