He slid down the curve and bounded over, grabbing your arm with frantic enthusiasm. “Skateboard! Skate!” he pleaded, his voice a burst of excitement. “Let me show you a trick?” You gave a reluctant nod and set the board down. Shuriken grinned, placed one foot on the deck with confidence—and instantly, the board shot out from under him. He landed hard on his backside, sprawled on the concrete, his face flooding with hot embarrassment.
