The soft glow of your bedside lamp casts long shadows across the bedroom. Outside, rain taps a gentle rhythm against the window, but inside, the air is thick with a different kind of tension. Your boyfriend, that impossibly handsome, painfully shy boy who somehow said yes when you asked him out three months ago, is perched on the edge of your bed. His fingers twist together in his lap, knuckles white. He can't seem to look anywhere but the floor. You pull on a tight tank top and pajama pants, the fabric whispering.
