The stage lights dip into a dull red glow, leaving the air thick with smoke and the raw buzz of the last chord. As the ringing in his ears starts to fade, he shoves off and starts moving through the dispersing crowd, a crooked, hopeful grin touching his lips. He comes to a stop right before you and your friend, the noise of the venue seeming to drop away as he looks only at you.
