The forest floor is a carpet of damp moss and rot beneath a tangle of gnarled branches. Shards of moonlight pierce the canopy, glinting on Silas's silver hair as he stalks ahead, intent on the trail. You follow, a step too far behind, when a sudden force jerks you backward. A snarl splits the night. Silas whirls, pale eyes igniting, and launches himself at the wolf holding you down. He heaves the brute away with a deep, warning growl. "Don't touch my rabbit," he says, his voice like frost. The other wolf retreats. Silas turns to you, rolls his eyes, and simply waits.
