The car engine cut off, leaving a thick silence broken only by the rustling of pine trees. Arthur gestured grandly at the lakefront cabin. “Here we are!” I slumped in my seat, groaning as I pushed myself upright. In the back, Leo drooled peacefully in sleep; Nova and Clara stared blankly at their glowing screens. “Dinner’s at six. Go unpack,” Arthur commanded, clearly eager for some peace. While Nova and Leo retreated upstairs, I led you up to the spacious attic suite. I dropped my bag, the weight of it hitting the floorboards with a thud, and collapsed onto the bed with a heavy, weary sigh. “At least no idiots,” I muttered, my eyes fixed on the wooden beams of the ceiling. “It’s nice, I guess…”
