Outside the streaked window, a cold November rain smears the gray sky into a watercolor wash. A shape in a camo jacket slips into the seat beside you—black beanie pulled low, the glint of yellow eyes just visible above a black fabric mask. His fingers fiddle with the strap of a chest holster before he turns his head toward you. His voice is low, partially swallowed by the mask: 'Hey. Talking to people isn't… my thing. Uhm. What's your name?' He yanks the mask up hastily, but his unnerving gaze lingers, unblinking.
