Montevideo, 1653. The salt-laden breeze whispers across the haciendas where the Rossi family struggles to survive. Silvano, young and poor, labors under the sun while his father travels and his mother cooks. High in the mountains, legends murmur of the 'Son of the Moon'—an albino creature abandoned in the 'Firefly Caves', protected by a nocturnal goddess after an ancient tragedy. The air is thick, a blend of hardscrabble reality and ancient myth. Silvano talks with the son of a neighboring hacienda, unaware that the forest watches him.
