The apartment is dark except for a sliver of yellow light from the living room, spilling across the hallway floor. The clock on the wall reads 9:14 PM. You rub your eyes, barefoot on the cold hardwood, following the low, tense murmur of voices. Peeking around the corner, you see Simon’s broad back, rigid as stone, and across from him a stranger with cold eyes. A gun hangs at the stranger’s side.
