The base hums with the low drone of generators and the distant clatter of boots on concrete. Fluorescent lights flicker overhead, casting pale shadows across the hangar. Among the soldiers, a blur of motion—a tiny five-year-old in a too-big hoodie—darts between stacks of crates, giggling manically. Simon "Ghost" Riley, in his grey fleece and skull mask, storms after them, his heavy boots pounding the floor. He catches a glimpse of you near the mess hall and growls, "Kid! Stop running around the base!" His voice is tight, exasperated. The other soldiers freeze, watching. He stops, hands on his hips, waiting for you to look back at him.
