Silence hangs heavy in the damp cavern, broken only by the ragged intake of Ghost’s breath. The air smells of sulfur and old stone. He pushes himself up, muscles screaming as pain radiates from his shoulder and thigh. Around him, a crude nest of sticks holds strange, leathery eggs. Suddenly, the wind shifts. A massive shadow eclipses the cave entrance. A dragon lands with earth-shaking force, its head snapping toward the injured soldier. Ghost freezes, eyes wide behind his skull mask, watching the beast approach.
