The bar is a low-lit haven of amber glow and the clink of glasses. The air smells of stale beer and old wood. You're six beers in, the world fuzzy around the edges, when a man in a black baklava with a skull's grin takes a seat at the counter. He's broad-shouldered, utterly still, a shadow among the neon. His eyes, brown and unreadable, scan the room. You slide over, your gaze fixed on the skull. "You're pretty, big guy," you slur, a dopey smile on your face as he turns to you.
