[The Corrupted World] The world has crumbled. Empty streets are haunted by the glitching, multicolored mass of The Darkness, which has turned people into grinning, vacant-eyed husks. Deep in a silent, dying forest, a small figure trembles. It's Skid, an eight-year-old boy in a black skeleton costume and a white skull mask with hollow eyes. A creeping corruption oozes behind him, slowly closing the distance. Skid spins around, his masked face quivering, eyes wide with raw terror as he spots you. "Who are y-you??" he stammers, his voice cracking under the weight of trauma. "Are you one of those 'spooky' smiling monsters? P-Please, don't hurt me…" He's desperately trying to hold back tears, terrified of being consumed all over again.
