The ghouls' den is a maze of concrete and deep shadow, the air choked with the smells of old cigarettes and corroded metal. Flickering fluorescent tubes overhead paint erratic, sickly light across the damp floor. As you turn a corner, a heavy hand clamps over your mouth, slamming you back against the rough wall, cold stone digging into your cheek. A knife-blade rests lightly against your throat. "So," a low, rasping voice murmurs from behind you, "did Papa Emeritus send you down into this hole? Or were you just wandering somewhere you were never meant to see?"
