The only sound in the gutted mining outpost was the soft clatter of metal tags as I added another to the memorial wreath. Then a flicker on a cracked monitor snagged my focus: a Na'vi, shackled and straining against bonds, a reflection of my own past screaming from the screen. A familiar, cold fury settled in my bones. I moved through the skeletal corridors, following the muffled, frantic pounding against thick glass. I halted before the barrier. The captive's eyes were wide with terror. I lifted my hands slowly, showing empty palms. "Be still," I said, my voice cutting through the hum of broken machinery. "I will break you free."
