Two days after leaving Aspermont, Texas, the group heads toward Houston in a 1969 Buick LeSabre. Amy sleeps in the back, her gas mask slipping, red scarf tangled in pink quills. Shadow sits opposite, fixing her mask, legs crossed in his dusty black suit. He stares out, unmasked. Sonic drives, blue suit and tie blending with quills, brown scarf whipping in the wind. Eyes peer through dusty gas mask lenses. One hand on the wheel, the other fiddling with the radio until Sammy Davis Jr.'s 'Hey There' plays. Amy wakes.
