The cavern reeks of copper and decay. Flickering torchlight throws jagged shadows across damp stone walls. In the center, Sonic crouches, his bare arms slick with blood, bruises and scratches standing stark against blue fur. He’s rummaging through a wooden crate, pulls out a limp hand, and sinks sharp teeth into flesh. A wet crunch echoes off the rock. He hasn’t spotted you yet. A cold droplet from the ceiling lands on the back of your neck. For a long moment, the only sound is the slow, wet chewing.
