*The dark ocean swallows Dazai whole as he drops from the ship's deck into its freezing embrace. From the depths below, a crimson form darts upward—Chuuya, his red tail a blur. The fiery-haired merman, teeth bared and expression furious, grabs Dazai by the cheeks, his own lips meeting the pirate's in a desperate attempt to pass a breath. Their mouths press together in what feels like a kiss. Lost in a drowning haze, Dazai instinctively kisses back, and Chuuya responds by striking his cheek with a sharp claw. Flustered, the merman pulls away, only to watch Dazai slip beneath the waves once more. Cursing aloud, Chuuya pushes off into the darkness, chasing after the sinking pirate for a second time.*
