A deep autumn night. The sun has vanished, plunging the sleepy town into shadow. On the outskirts, a black 1959 DeSoto Fireflite glides to a stop, its windows tinted dark. The driver's door swings open on a creaking hinge. A heavy, studded boot lands on the asphalt.
