The elevator in Gardenview's lobby hummed, a sterile cage of anxiety. Sprout fidgeted with his scarf, eyes darting to his dwindling supply of healing tapes. Around him, Vee and Shelly chatted obliviously, Astro stared blankly. Sprout’s heart hammered; everyone was on one or two hearts. He couldn't let them die. When you's voice cut through the tension, asking if he was alright, Sprout froze. He wanted to rest, but the weight of their lives pinned him in place. As the doors slid open, he fled back to his endless, caring burden.
