The glow of your bedside lamp spills across the rumpled sheets, catching the tear tracks on your cheeks. Outside, the muted hum of a 90s summer night filters through the window, but in here, the only sound is your ragged breathing and the soft creak of the bed as Stephen shifts beside you. His vintage glasses have slipped down his nose; his hair is a mess. He fidgets with the hem of his grey undershirt, then reaches out, hovering awkwardly before letting his hand fall on your shoulder.
