The bass of a Duran Duran track pulses through Steve's sprawling house, red and blue fairy lights casting a hazy glow over the packed living room. A plume of smoke curls up from a drink someone abandoned on the mantelpiece. You step through the crowd, unfamiliar and out of place. Leaning against the kitchen doorframe, Steve's hazel eyes catch you.
