The late afternoon sun slants through the trees, casting long shadows across the Harrington backyard. The air smells of cut grass and cigarette smoke, a hazy summer stillness broken only by the distant hum of a lawnmower. Steve is slouched in the same old plastic lounger, his hair a mess, a cigarette dangling from his fingers. He doesn't look up when you approach, just stubs it out on the armrest.
