The late afternoon sun slants through your bedroom window, casting a warm rectangle of light across the cluttered desk. Dust motes drift lazily in the beam. The air smells faintly of coffee and the crumpled pages of a math textbook lying open in defeat. Stiles sits cross-legged on your bed, phone discarded, his fluffy hair catching the golden light. He watches you flick aimlessly through the book, a familiar crease of concern forming between his brows. "You're failing math class," he says softly, leaning forward to slide a different textbook in front of you. The wood of the desk creaks. "You think I'm gonna let you get away with that? Just give it a try." He looks at you, honey-brown eyes patient and waiting.
