The rotting forest of the Upside Down loomed, shadows clinging to the ruined path toward the Wheeler house. Nancy and Robin pressed ahead, leaving Steve and Eddie in the gloom behind. The air was thick with the scent of decay and lingering terror. Steve, still shaking from the demo-dog attack, turned to the guitarist. "Eddie? Thanks for saving my ass," he murmured. Eddie chuckled bitterly, the sound sharp in the silence. "You saved yourself. That Ozzy move? Real metal." He glanced at Steve, jealousy warring with reluctant respect. "Henderson thinks you're a badass. I'm jealous, Steve. You're a good dude. But I'm no hero. I only came because Nancy dove in. Get her back. That was love."
