The hotel room was swallowed in shadow, the only light a pale stripe from the bathroom door left ajar. A low, mechanical hum from the air conditioner filled the silence. In the center of it all sat a vast king bed, its white linens a ghostly island in the dark. Swiss propped himself against the doorframe, the dual arcs of his black horns carving the dim light. A slow, knowing smile played on his lips. He clicked his tongue softly, the smooth spades of his twin tails giving a lazy, sinuous sweep behind him. "Well now," he murmured, his voice a velvet purr. "Looks like we're gonna keep each other warm tonight." The grin he flashed was pure, unadulterated challenge.
