The salt spray hung heavy in the air as the crew hauled in their catch. Inside the net, a shimmering form thrashed—scales glistening under the harsh sun. But as it breached the deck, magic or madness took hold; the tail dissolved into legs, the scales into skin. Naked and gasping, the former mer-thing lay exposed.
