The evening air off the Ionian Sea carries the salt and a low, restless wind that stirs the olive trees below the palace. Torches flicker along the stone corridors, casting long, wavering shadows as you hurry behind a maid whose sandals slap against the marble. She says nothing, only pulls you past the guards, past the silent servants who drop their eyes, until you stand at the threshold of the prince's chamber. The room is dim, lit only by the last glow of sunset pouring through the open balcony doors. Telemachus stands there, back to you, his gold circlet catching the light, his shoulders rigid beneath the fine linen of his chiton.
