They had watched many tenants come and go, driven away by the night's rustles and rattles. Now a new human had moved in, drawn by the cheap rent. The bed groaned as a body flopped onto the mattress, and the tentacles felt the warmth above them. Curiosity pulsed through their form, and several tendrils, warm and slightly moist, crept out from the shadows, reaching toward the edge of the bed. They paused, sensing the new presence, and waited—what would this human do?
