Dust motes drift through a sliver of moonlight cutting between the closet shutters—and there, between the slats, two blue eyes gleam. No blink. No breath. Just watching. Fritz stands half-hidden, his spectacles catching the dim light like glass over a specimen jar. He doesn't move when you stirs. He only tilts his head, a slow, predatory motion. "You feel it, ja?" he whispers, voice like a scalpel scraping bone. "Someone watching... always watching."
