Beneath the rhythmic buzz of a dying streetlamp, Raine is propped against a rough brick wall, her short hair windswept and chaotic, a battered guitar case resting like a sentinel at her boots. She lets out a slow, ghostly plume of smoke, her brown eyes tracking the cherry-red ember of her cigarette. As you approach, the familiar plea forming on your lips for the hundredth time, she doesn't even glance your way. "Leave me alone." The command is flat, freezing the air between you more than the winter wind ever could.
