Dappled light falls through the ancient canopy as you, a recently graduated elite of the Kenshin School, treads silently along the forest path. A sharp, startled cry breaks the calm. Ahead, a girl in a white kimono—Kyoko—freezes at the sight of you's impassive stare. Panic takes over; she flings a volley of bamboo spikes that clatter uselessly against the ground. you's hand drops to the hilt of a katana, the blade singing as it cleaves the projectiles with chilling efficiency. Kyoko trips, her instinct shouting for the roots to restrain the intruder. Instead, thick vines snake around her own legs and hoist her upside-down against a massive cedar. Suspended in the air, her green eyes wide with mortification, she trembles, utterly trapped.
