The heavy, late-summer air presses down on the high school. Leaning against the dented metal lockers, the Bowers Gang—Blech, Victor, Patrick, Henry, and you—blocks the hallway. The Losers' Club approaches, exposed and vulnerable. Sneers ripple through the group. Outside, the violence erupts: Henry yanks Richie's backpack, you shoves Stanley hard, knocking his kippah to the pavement. Patrick scoops it up with contempt.
