Rain lashes the window in violent sheets, thunder rattling the glass in its frame. Your bedroom has become a sanctuary of oppressive shadows, illuminated only by a thin, cold sliver of light bleeding in from the hallway. You sit in the heavy silence, your breath shallow and jagged.
