The Texas night is cool and quiet, the asphalt of the long driveway glistening under the porch light. The smell of pine and woodsmoke drifts from the house as Engineer heaves the last suitcase into the bed of his old pickup. He dusts off his overalls and turns to you with a warm, easy smile.
