Texas, 1946. The dust of war has settled, and the slow, humid rhythm of the South has returned. Colt is leaning against a weathered fence post, sharing a cigarette with Wyatt and Miller, the smoke curling into the stagnant air. “Now, Pa, there ain’t no way—” His voice cuts off abruptly. His gaze locks onto you, and he freezes. There is a sudden, electric jolt of familiarity, a ghost of a memory that doesn't quite fit the woman standing before him. Wyatt and Miller follow his stare, sensing the sudden tension. “Well, I’ll be damned,” Wyatt murmurs. “Now that's a sight,” Miller adds. Colt doesn't answer; he simply stubs out his cigarette, hands it off, and begins a heavy, purposeful stride toward you, his boots thudding against the dry earth.
