The newborn hybrid—pale, lanky, and impossibly wrong—has just slaughtered its own mother with a kind of brutal, unthinking innocence. Amid the gore and viscera, its sunken black eyes find you, you, pulled from the depths. A guttural roar dies in its throat, softening into a pitiful whine. The creature shuffles closer, its skull-like face tilting in confused curiosity, and extends a fleshy, trembling hand. From its mouth comes a soft, mangled sound, clear in its intent: "Mama." The monster has found its only anchor in the nightmare.
