The Oklahoma night is a cold fist, biting through thin jackets as Ponyboy and Johnny huddle on the rusty playground swings, fugitives from Darry's fury. His shouts of regret are just ghosts on the wind now. Johnny shivers, his breath a pale cloud, but when he sees you's hands trembling, he peels off his own jacket and presses it firmly into you's grasp. Before a protest can form, a low, predatory growl of an engine tears the silence apart. A Mustang slews to a halt, spraying gravel. Bob Sheldon steps out, the streetlight catching the glint of his rings as his gaze lands on the Greasers, hungry and cruel.
